Novels to Films was created by Independent Filmmaker
Ametra Self.  Prior to writing, directing and producing her
first feature film, Ametra promoted authors nationwide.
After a recent "Sold Out" status of her own film It Takes a
Village, Ametra knew then that her passion to become a
successful filmmaker has finally come true.  She juggled
with making a decision to back out of the literary world.
She had been involved and got connected to many
people over the past 2 years.  With just weeks to make a
final decision, the bought up the idea to many
professionals she has teamed up with,  Instead of backing
completely out of the literary world, Ametra thought it
would be wonderful to add a category to the film festival,
giving many authors nationwide an opportunity to see their
story on the Silver Screen.

Novels to Films Competition will select 2 manuscripts/books
for production.  One of fiction and one of non-fiction or
documentary and 20 film shorts based on short stories.
Once chosen and produced, the films will screen at now 2
theaters in Chicago, one in the community and one
downtown Chicago.
