Meet Authoress

Ciara Wimby
loves to talk and has a very active
imagination. She's a very good oral
storyteller and very animated, told
by Ciara’s friends and family.
“Anytime I hear or read something, I
tend to exaggerate or create a new
story line.” She believes that her
story telling skills translate well into
writing. Written inspiration comes
during long silent drives, placing her
fingers in the dirt while gardening, a
good rally during a tennis match or
striving to get the best stretch out of
a yoga pose.
Ciara started writing prior to
graduating college, to ease the
anxiety she faced with entering the
“real world”. As she started writing
more, Ciara saw her characters take
a life of their own and a book began
to develop. The characters became
new friends and she began to share
their story with her friends and
family. Ciara’s friends and family
related to them because they felt the
characters were either them or
someone they new. The characters
were alive, which drove Ciara to find
out how their story would continue
and eventually end. Hence, Off the
Hook! was born.
She wanted to be involved in every
aspect of getting her book to
readers. Ciara created Talkin'
Smack Publishing, Inc. to do just
that. Creating the company allowed
her to learn the publishing business
and learn how to market and sell a
novel. Off the Hook! created a
writer and publishing entrepreneur.
Off the Hook! is written in such a
visual form that, “many of my
readers let me they would love to
see the book translated into a
movie.” Wanting to feed the needs
of her readers, Ciara has begun
working on writing a movie script.
“Just as with the novel, a script will
present opportunities for me to get
involved in filmmaking, which I look
forward to!”
For Ciara Wimby, writing not only
gives her a chance to create a series
of characters that people can relate
too, but also opens many
opportunities. Ciara wants to write
in various genres, shorts and novel,
TV and films, and music, along with,
exploring all the outlets to distribute
her products.

Ciara Wimby has written a definite page turner. I've already recommended Off the Hook to friends with the
statement... "That Karen is a trip and a half and as you read her story you are going to want to know what
happens next."

I could not put this book down! The plot twists kept me on my toes from beginning to end. I read it in one
day. Karen is a trip! Someone needs to purchase the film rights to this book.
Ciara Wimby's debut novel is engaging, fast paced and "Off The Hook". It captures your attention from page
one until the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever had relationship drama ... well, I
guess that's everybody, who hasn't had drama in a relationship at one time or another?

This novel held my attention as I became involved in the lives of the characters. As a first time effort I think
I'll be reading more from this author......

I think that "Off The Hook" is a good story about the very common experiences of young, black women and
their inability to make sound decisions for various reasons. Ms. Wimby has done a great job in making the
situations that happen in the book seem real with catchy dialogue and expressive scenes throughout the
novel. However, I do feel that Ciara could have cut down on the use of "proper grammar" in areas of
conversation where it really wasn't called for. For example, substituting "they're" for "they are" in a
character's dialogue.
The story was well thought out and planned, however, it did lend itself to just a bit of predictability. I
basically knew the outcome of each character's situation before I turned the page.
Overall, I feel that Ciara Wimby's debut novel was very well written and I'm looking forward to her next
novel. More importantly, I'm looking forward to supporting the efforts of a young, black writer.
